AMA Triangle is always excited for our members to increase their involvement in AMA by volunteering for our chapter. We have volunteer roles that span all aspects of the chapter, with multiple levels of involvement (one-off, a few hours a month, 1-2 hours a week, etc.). Current Opportunities

Communications is the hub of the AMA Triangle Chapter – nearly everything the chapter does go through communications. It is vital that the Communications Team provides consistency, accountability, and cohesiveness!

The focus of this role is to help manage the AMA Triangle Visual Identity and creative presence.

Duties include:
• Review calls for graphic creation and updates via BaseCamp (our project communications platform).

• Use and help update and maintain our current library for graphic creation in Canva (Adobe Creative Suite is a plus but not required).

• Generate graphics for our Website, Blogs (AMA Voices), Social Media, Email, and more.

• Monitor other AMA Chapter Social Media for trends and ideas, and bring them to the team for discussion.

If you are looking to gain experience in being part of a dynamic team to grow (and show off) your graphics creation skills, this volunteer role is for you!

Time commitment: 4 – 8 hours per month (1-2 hours per week)

• Use and help update and maintain our current library of videos (using Vimeo).

• Edit Zoom interviews ( and or graphics) into short (1-4 minute) marketing videos

• Creatively edit videos for our Website, Blogs (AMA Voices), Social Media, Email, and more.

• Monitor other AMA Chapter Social Media for trends and ideas, and bring them to the team for discussion.

Time commitment: 4 – 12 hours per month (1-3 hours per week)

Description: AMAimpact focuses on three pillars: donating money, donating time, and donating marketing skills. The AMAimpact Program Coordinator (Marketing Skills) coordinates the marketing skills volunteer placement program for AMA Triangle.  

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Director of AMAimpact to develop the marketing skills volunteer placement program for AMA Triangle
  • Assist with developing communications materials and campaigns to promote the marketing skills program to AMA Triangle members and to local marketing professionals to get them to donate their marketing expertise to local nonprofit organizations
  • Assist with volunteer events day-of as needed to include problem solving and communication with organization staff
  • Attend bi-weekly AMAImpact team meetings 
  • Administrative duties as assigned

Description: The Collegiate Relations Project Coordinator supports events, programming, and outreach activities for AMA collegiate chapters. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Director of Collegiate Relations to plan and support events, programs, and outreach to AMA collegiate chapters
  • Assist as needed with day-of activities for Marketing Jam including welcoming guests, set-up and teardown, problem solving, and communication with vendor/venue staff
  • Assist with developing communications for Collegiate Relations activities and programs
  • Attend bi-weekly Collegiate Relations team meetings 
  • Administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Purpose: The CONNECT & INSPIRE Event Coordinator supports the development of programming for current and future program participants. This role will assist with creating, planning and executing bi-monthly activities such as the program kick-off, trainings and social events. Note: The 2020-21 CONNECT & INSPIRE Program will be virtual. As such responsibilities below will be customized for a virtual format. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Manage event calendar and coordinates scheduling with partners and venues
  • Collaborate with AMA Triangle program managers to co-develop existing events for program participants
  • Work with the Director of CONNECT & INSPIRE and the VP of Programming to oversee budget management, material purchases, and venue partnerships
  • Maintain event organization details such as venue, food, guest list, entertainment, etc.
  • Assist with supervising events day-of to include welcoming guests, set-up and teardown, problem solving, and communication with vendor/venue staff
  • Attend bi-weekly CONNECT & INSPIRE team meetings 
  • Administrative duties as assigned

Description:

The Liaison Officer, DEI works most closely with the AVP, DEI. The Liaison Officer assists the DEI team by facilitating alignment and support across all AMAT functions. Each officer will be assigned at least one internal team (e.g. Programming, Membership, Communications, etc.) with which to liaise. 

Core Responsibilities :

  • Work closely with the AVP and DEI team to gain alignment of other AMAT in support of the chapter’s DEI goals.
  • Coordinate with their assigned team to identify opportunities to support that team’s efforts to incorporate DEI principles.
  • Periodically review progress of other AMAT functions towards the chapter’s DEI goals and make recommendations on opportunities to strengthen those efforts.
  • In collaboration with other AMAT committees, recommend policy and practice development within the chapter as part of a strategic planning process.
  • In alignment of the Director of DEI, support recruitment strategy with (but not exclusive to) LGBTQIA, BIPOC, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups.
  • Act as a DEI thought leader and brand advocate.
  • Other duties as assigned

Join the Membership Committee to convert members to volunteers so they can build valuable skills, network with fellow marketing professionals, and maximize the value of their membership.

The AVP of Membership, reporting to the VP of Membership is responsible for overseeing membership acquisition activities including national membership awareness drives. The AVP of Membership will be responsible to set acquisition strategy and activities to drive the chapter recruitment goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the VP in setting the goals and marketing efforts for monthly member recruitment and national awareness drives
    • Develop marketing plans and direct marketing campaigns
    • Create a comms brief and submit it by the required due date to the Comms team
    • Communicate with the Comms team to ensure execution of the promotional plan
    • Analyze results of monthly acquisition activity, as well as the bi-annual awareness drives
  • Develop strategies and tactics to drive member acquisition in the chapter year.
  • Assist with Membership team engagement in posting on the Linkedin Group Page

Projects may include:

  • Working with the Comms team to develop recruiting materials, where needed.
  • Encourage and facilitate new member recruitment by board members and volunteers
  • Assist, if needed, in the recruitment of companies for AMA group membership
  • Assist, if needed, in member retention efforts

Commitment

  • 3-5 hours per week.
  • Attend, and lead when appropriate, monthly team meetings
  • Attend quarterly Meet & Greet orientation events, and other team programs
  • Collaborate with other chapter teams as needed

Requirements

  • Active AMA Triangle member
  • A minimum of five years of overall marketing experience with a focus on recruitment, program management, direct marketing, or business development, is required.
  • A minimum of two years of leadership experience and one-year chapter volunteer experience are preferred.
  • Experience with communications technology including email platforms, website CMS and social media, preferred
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally – coordinating initiatives across the AMA Board and chapter

Description: The Director of Membership Operations and Orientation is responsible for managing all aspects of 4 quarterly Meet & Greet events. These events introduce new members to the key aspects of membership and associated opportunities available to them through the AMA Triangle chapter.

Reports to: VP of Membership

Responsibilities of Role:

  • Work with VP, Membership to engage new members and encourage them to become involved in AMA Triangle
  • Responsible for planning 3-4 quarterly virtual Meet & Greet events for new members to familiarize them with AMA resources, programming, volunteer opportunities, Ally program, etc.
  • Work with select volunteers from each AMA Triangle committee to present at each virtual event
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to develop social media and email marketing materials to promote each event to new members

Time commitment is 10-15 hours/month.

It’s the members of AMA Triangle have helped the chapter become the premier marketing association in the Triangle and Gold Chapter of the Year out of 75 chapters! Join the Membership Committee to recruit new AMA members and the chapter leaders of the future.

If you enjoy community engagement, content marketing and recruitment, this volunteer role is for you! The YP Meetup Manager supports the VP of Membership while coordinating between Communications, Programming, and other teams.

The focus of this role is to manage our AMA Triangle YP Quarterly Meetup. 

Reports to: VP of Membership

Duties include:

  1. Positively impact member retention amongst YP members via segment-specific program that caters specifically to the interests of YP’s, both educational and social.
  2. Working with VP of Membership, prepare an annual budget for YP Meetup events (quarterly).
  3. Schedule and coordinate planning of quarterly YP Meetups-either virtual or in-person based on feedback from active YP members. Post dates to chapter events calendar
  4. Recruit new YP members to attend events and Slack YP channel
  5. Manage YP Slack channel, including inviting new YP’s, monitoring activity to align with platform guidelines and by encouraging  channel engagement
  6. Curate and share content relevant to the chapter’s YP’s via Slack YP channel.

Love party planning and getting like minds together to network and socialize? This role may be perfect for you!

Almost all of our events include some aspect of networking, but our socials are all about connecting marketers in a fun environment. AMA Triangle socials take place once per quarter after Board of Volunteer (BOV) meetings in which we invite all members to engage with our board in person. Members and non-members are invited to the social afterward.

As the Director of Socials, you’ll coordinate the social after each BOV meeting, including one that doubles as our holiday party. You’ll also be tasked with working alongside the VP of Programming to coordinate AMA Triangle’s new signature event — the CMO panel. This evening event features networking and powerful insights from local CMOs. 

The volunteer role reports to the VP of Programming.

Responsibilities include:

  • coordinating BOV timing and location with the Secretary
  • coordinating logistics with venues (typically local bars/restaurants)
  • creating event copy for the communications team and working alongside them to ensure that information is available on the website for registration and promotion    
  • managing check-in and other on-site logistics
  • reporting attendance figures to our tracking system
  • assisting the VP of Programming with the coordination of the signature event 

You’ll need to attend socials in person (typically begin setup at 7 PM, start at 7:30 PM and end at 9 PM) at locations around the Triangle.

This role averages 2-4 hours a month.

Our industry is constantly changing. While marketing fundamentals stay the same, new technologies and changing markets mean people need to stay ahead… or get left behind. To meet this need, AMA Triangle offers two-hour workshops for members and guests on topics like innovation, leadership, public speaking, and more.

As the Director of Workshops, you’ll shape and lead the chapter’s two-hour training workshop.

The volunteer role reports to the VP of Programming.

Responsibilities include:

  • choosing bi-monthly (every other month) workshop topics + speakers, working alongside the partnership team
  • set up the virtual event in Zoom and Eventbrite
  • creating event + social copy for the communications team and working alongside them to ensure that information is available on the website for registration and promotion
    • responsible for submitting the communications brief for each of the workshop events 
  • recruiting and negotiating with speakers/trainers
  • reporting attendance figures to our tracking system

You’ll need to attend at least one workshop (two-hour blocks depending on the time of day) and work with the speakers to coordinate a rehearsal a week before the event. Ideally, you’ll have a flexible schedule—or your boss sees your involvement in training events as a plus for your company.

Are you detail-oriented and love getting people together in smaller groups to be inspired, network, and have fun? This may be the role for you.

The Local Meetup Leader works alongside the Director of Local Meetups and VP of Programming to help launch our new program providing regionally-based informal opportunities for local networking and collaboration. 

These free group networking events are a member-only benefit, so membership is required to attend.  Attendees may choose to purchase food/beverage themselves. Time of day to meet, location, and meeting frequency are both flexible and up to the needs of the individual group. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify dates, times, and locations in their local region for get togethers (should be at least every other month; monthly preferred);
  • Share upcoming event details with the Director of Meetups and/or VP of Programming for promotion to membership;
  • Invite non-members who express interest in attending to join AMAT & connect them with VP Membership or VP Programming;
  • Track who attends and share the final attendance numbers of local meetup events with the Director or VP;
  • Identify a backup point of contact if they are unable to attend one of the scheduled events;
  • Create and maintain a digital list of local possible meetup spots (restaurants, brew pubs, coworking spaces, parks, libraries, coffee shops, etc.) along with contact information (address, phone, URL, and point of contact if needed for a location.) 
    • Should a venue express interest in becoming a sponsor of AMA Triangle, please connect them with the VP of Programming or VP of Sponsorships.
  • On behalf of the AMAT, ensure all attendees feel welcomed and seem to engage positively with others during the event. Notify the Director or VP if concerns arise.

You’ll need to attend these meetups in person at various locations TBD.

This role averages 1-2 hours a month.

2022-23 Locations will include:

– Greensboro/Triad (OPEN)

This is a hands-on, logistics-focused role that helps to ensure that our Signature Speaker Series (S3) events (which are core to our programming activities) run smoothly and efficiently.

This role will be responsible for tactical event support, before, during, and after the event. This individual is highly-organized, handles multiple tasks simultaneously with ease, and has an exceptional eye for detail. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assists with event logistics for our Signature Speaker Series events each month.
  • Works with VP of Programming and AVP/Director of S3 events to confirm all event details and ensure those are communicated, including:
    • Submitting request for promotion to both AMA member (internal) and external (social media) communications teams
    • Adding approved event details into Eventbrite, including pricing and email communications
    • Submitting upcoming events to local publications to assist with exposure (publications TBD) 
  • Working with AVP/Director of S3 Events, maintains organized tracking of all moving parts for each S3 event’s logistics, reporting status of items regularly to VP of Programming, including:
    • Speakers: items we need to receive (typically topic description, bio, headshot, and contract)
    • Venue paperwork (if needed) 
    • Revenue generated from each event
    • Attendance at each event and member/guest splits
  • With the S3 team, identifies potential topics and helping to shape content as needed 

This role is estimated at 2-3 hours per month.
