AMA Triangle is always excited for our members to increase their involvement in AMA by volunteering for our chapter. We have volunteer roles that span all aspects of the chapter, with multiple levels of involvement (one-off, a few hours a month, 1-2 hours a week, etc.). Current Opportunities

Communications is the hub of the AMA Triangle chapter – nearly everything the chapter does goes through and is handled by the Comms Team, including promoting events, distilling information and growing the AMA Triangle community.

The focus of the Twitter Content Manager is to manage the regular posting and general promotion of the AMA Triangle Twitter account.

Reports to: Director of Social; VP/AVP of Communications

Duties include:

  1. Review, write and schedule Twitter posts assigned to you 1-2x/week for AMA Triangle events, programming and campaigns
  2. Contribute to Social Team discussions for larger campaign work
  3. Work with Twitter Engagement Manager to increase reach and engagement on platform
  4. Attend monthly strategy and team-building meetings

Opportunities include:

  1. Ability to increase understanding of Twitter platform and backend scheduling system
  2. Options to pitch new content and test audience engagement
  3. Getting the most out of your AMA membership through volunteering

Time commitment: 4-7 hours per month

  2. Update linktree on a consistent basis
  3. Contribute to Social Team discussions for larger campaign work
  4. Work with Instagram Engagement Manager to increase reach on platform
  5. Attend monthly strategy and team-building meetings

The focus of the Slack Community Manager is to manage the content and engagement of the AMA Triangle Members-Only Slack Community.

Reports to: Director of Slack; VP/AVP of Communications

Duties include:

  1. Manage 2-3 assigned Slack channels within community
  2. Schedule Slack posts, related articles, polls, and other content to increase engagement 1-2x/week
  3. Monitor Slack account activity for member engagement; respond and take part in conversations on your channels 
  4. Work with Director of Slack to amplify content and engagement work
  5. Attend monthly strategy and team-building meetings

Time commitment: 6-8 hours per month

Description: The Collegiate Relations Project Coordinator supports events, programming, and outreach activities for AMA collegiate chapters. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Director of Collegiate Relations to plan and support events, programs, and outreach to AMA collegiate chapters
  • Assist as needed with day-of activities for Marketing Jam including welcoming guests, set-up and teardown, problem solving, and communication with vendor/venue staff
  • Assist with developing communications for Collegiate Relations activities and programs
  • Attend bi-weekly Collegiate Relations team meetings¬†
  • Administrative duties as assigned

Description: Purpose: The CONNECT & INSPIRE Event Coordinator supports the development of programming for current and future program participants. This role will assist with creating, planning and executing bi-monthly activities such as the program kick-off, trainings and social events. Note: The 2020-21 CONNECT & INSPIRE Program will be virtual. As such responsibilities below will be customized for a virtual format. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Manage event calendar and coordinates scheduling with partners and venues
  • Collaborate with AMA Triangle program managers to co-develop existing events for program participants
  • Work with the Director of CONNECT & INSPIRE and the VP of Programming to oversee budget management, material purchases, and venue partnerships
  • Maintain event organization details such as venue, food, guest list, entertainment, etc.
  • Assist with supervising events day-of to include welcoming guests, set-up and teardown, problem solving, and communication with vendor/venue staff
  • Attend bi-weekly CONNECT & INSPIRE team meetings¬†
  • Administrative duties as assigned

Description: AMAimpact focuses on three pillars: donating money, donating time, and donating marketing skills. The AMAimpact Program Coordinator (Marketing Skills) coordinates the marketing skills volunteer placement program for AMA Triangle.  

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Director of AMAimpact to develop the marketing skills volunteer placement program for AMA Triangle
  • Assist with developing communications materials and campaigns to promote the marketing skills program to AMA Triangle members and to local marketing professionals to get them to donate their marketing expertise to local nonprofit organizations
  • Assist with volunteer events day-of as needed to include problem solving and communication with organization staff
  • Attend bi-weekly AMAImpact team meetings¬†
  • Administrative duties as assigned

Description:  AMAimpact focuses on three pillars: donating money, donating time, and donating marketing skills. The AMAimpact Project Coordinator (Volunteering) coordinates volunteer service projects for AMA Triangle members including planning service projects for National Volunteer Week in 2021.  

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Director of AMAimpact to plan volunteer service projects for National Volunteer Week in April 2021¬†
  • Assist with developing communications materials and campaigns to promote volunteer service projects to AMA Triangle members to get them to donate their time to local nonprofit organizations
  • Assist with volunteer events day-of as needed to include problem solving and communication with organization staff
  • Attend bi-weekly AMAimpact team meetings¬†
  • Administrative duties as assigned

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Director of AMAimpact to maintain documentation and materials for team activities related to donations and fundraising¬†
  • Assist with developing communications materials and campaigns for AMA Triangle‚Äôs AMAzon Smile program and other opportunities to raise funds that support the work of AMA Triangle
  • Assist with volunteer events day-of as needed to include problem solving and communication with organization staff
  • Attend bi-weekly AMAimpact team meetings¬†
  • Administrative duties as assigned

Description:

The Liaison Officer, DEI works most closely with the AVP, DEI. The Liaison Officer assists the DEI team by facilitating alignment and support across all AMAT functions. Each officer will be assigned at least one internal team (e.g. Programming, Membership, Communications, etc.) with which to liaise. 

Core Responsibilities :

  • Work closely with the AVP and DEI team to gain alignment of other AMAT in support of the chapter‚Äôs DEI goals.
  • Coordinate with their assigned team to identify opportunities to support that team‚Äôs efforts to incorporate DEI principles.
  • Periodically review progress of other AMAT functions towards the chapter‚Äôs DEI goals and make recommendations on opportunities to strengthen those efforts.
  • In collaboration with other AMAT committees, recommend policy and practice development within the chapter as part of a strategic planning process.
  • In alignment of the Director of DEI, support recruitment strategy with (but not exclusive to) LGBTQIA, BIPOC, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups.
  • Act as a DEI thought leader and brand advocate.
  • Other duties as assigned

It’s the members of AMA Triangle have helped the chapter become the premier marketing association in the Triangle and Gold Chapter of the Year out of 75 chapters! Join the Membership Committee and lead efforts to recruit and retain member groups (3+ members from the same employer).

If you enjoy project management, strategic communications, and data management, this volunteer role is for you! The ideal candidate will be comfortable with selling, have a heart for outstanding customer (member)  personal service, be a relationship builder, and self starter. The Director of Group Membership supports the VP of Membership while coordinating between Sponsorship, Communications, and other teams.

Duties include:

  • Work with the VP of Membership to recruit, retain, and grow member groups
  • Coordinate with Sponsorship to onboard groups from key sponsor companies
  • Support Director of Retention to retain (and expand) existing groups
  • Explore opportunities to form new groups of individual members to maximize member value and improve retention
  • Build and lead team of volunteers to assist with efforts

Time commitment is 10-15 hours/month.

It’s the¬†members of AMA Triangle who have helped the chapter become the premier marketing association in the Triangle and Gold Chapter of the Year out of 75 chapters! Join the Membership Committee as an AMA Ally to help new members maximize the value of their investment in membership.

Purpose:

AMA Ally is a program to help new AMA Triangle members hit the ground running. New members will be able to opt-in to having an Ally and will be matched with a current member. The current member will share resources and information over the course of 30 days, with approximately four touch points.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Connect with assigned new member match to welcome them to our chapter
  • Get to know your match and share relevant resources
  • Encourage your match to get involved with the chapter

 

The Length of Appointment:
The AMA Ally and new member will be matched for 30 days. You’re welcome to be an Ally to multiple new members!

Time Commitment:

2 hours

 

Purpose: The Director of Operations supports the work of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and learns all aspects of the strategic and operational role to have the opportunity to become the COO in the future. This position supports the AMA Triangle chapter through a variety of HR and operations functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in planning monthly board meetings as needed. Tasks may include venue coordination, RSVP management, meeting scheduling, and attending the meeting to take minutes.
  • Provide support for activities related to volunteer onboarding and management. For example, creating email addresses, maintaining a roster of volunteers, and providing support to Board members.
  • Works with the team to ensure monthly reporting is sent in a timely manner to AMA National.
  • Responsible for helping the COO track volunteer experience through surveys, feedback and 1:1‚Äôs and shares opportunities for improvement with the board.
  • Works with the COO and President-Elect to ensure the election cycle is completed on time and follows the election guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Length of Appointment: The Dir. of Operations will serve for at least one board year with the opportunity to then move into the COO role

Time Commitment: 10 hours per month

Qualifications: Must be a member of the Triangle Chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Support: Training for this position will be provided.

Benefits: This role is a great introduction to serving on a nonprofit board through attendance at Executive Board meetings for a firsthand look at how the board functions. This role is also meant to serve as preparation for serving on the Executive Board of AMA Triangle as the COO. And as a volunteer, you’ll also be given a 10% discount to all AMA Triangle events.
