AMA Triangle Code of Conduct

AMA Triangle is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion.

We do not tolerate harassment of members, volunteers or guests in any form. Anyone violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the Chapter or an AMA Triangle meeting or event without a refund at the discretion of the Chapter leaders.

Harassment and/or harassing someone includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal comments disparaging anyone based on gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion.
  • Sexual images in public spaces.
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following.
  • Harassing photography or recording.
  • Sustained disruption of meetings, talks or events.
  • Inappropriate physical contact.
  • Unwelcome sexual attention.
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.

Enforcement

Anyone asked to stop any harassing behavior is expected to comply immediately.

While this anti-harassment policy applies to Chapter members and event guests, it also applies to exhibitors, speakers, and sponsors—whether at sponsor or vendor booths, workshops, presentations or similar activities. In particular, members, attendees, speakers, and sponsors should not use harassing or sexualized images, activities or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use harassing or sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes or otherwise create a harassing or sexualized environment.

If a person engages in harassing behavior, Chapter leaders, meeting leaders or event organizers retain the right to take any actions to keep the meeting or event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes warning the offender or expelling them from the meeting or event with no refund.

Chapter leaders, meeting leaders, and event organizers may take action to redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the meeting or event or making the environment hostile for any participants.

We expect Chapter members and event participants to follow these rules at all meetings (in person or virtual), event venues, and chapter- or event-related social activities.

Reporting

If someone makes you or anyone else feel harassed, unsafe, unwelcome, or you witness inappropriate behavior as described here, please report it as soon as possible to a member of the AMA Triangle board. Harassment and other code of conduct violations are wrong, degrade the Chapter, and reduce the productivity or value of our meeting or event for everyone. We want you to be comfortable, safe, and even happy at our meetings and events. Each one of you makes our Chapter and events better.

Anonymous Reporting

You can make an anonymous report here, via the contact form:

Contact

We can’t follow up on an anonymous report with you directly, but we will fully investigate it and take whatever action we deem responsible or necessary to prevent a recurrence.

In-Person Report

You can make an in-person report by:

  • Contacting an AMA Triangle board member. If you are at a meeting or event, ask to speak to one or more of them privately. If you are at an event, they may be identified by name tags with “President”, “President-Elect”, “Vice President” or “Board Member.”
  • When taking an in-person report, we will take reasonable steps to ensure you are safe and cannot be overheard. We may involve other Chapter members or event staff to ensure your report is managed properly. Once safe, we’ll ask you to tell us about what happened. This can be upsetting, but we’ll handle it as respectfully as possible, and you can bring someone to support you. You won’t be asked to confront anyone, and we won’t tell anyone who you are, unless required by law.
  • If at any event, we will be happy to help you contact hotel/venue security, local law enforcement, local support services, provide escorts or otherwise assist you to feel safe for the duration of the event.
