AMA Triangle is always excited for our members to increase their involvement in AMA by volunteering for our chapter. We have volunteer roles that span all aspects of the chapter, with multiple levels of involvement (one-off, a few hours a month, 1-2 hours a week, etc.). Current Opportunities

It’s the members of AMA Triangle have helped the chapter become the premier marketing association in the Triangle and Gold Chapter of the Year out of 75 chapters! Join the Membership Committee and lead efforts to recruit and retain member groups (3+ members from the same employer).

If you enjoy project management, strategic communications, and data management, this volunteer role is for you! The ideal candidate will be comfortable with selling, have a heart for outstanding customer (member)  personal service, be a relationship builder, and self starter. The Director of Group Membership supports the VP of Membership while coordinating between Sponsorship, Communications, and other teams.

Duties include:

  • Work with the VP of Membership to recruit, retain, and grow member groups
  • Coordinate with Sponsorship to onboard groups from key sponsor companies
  • Support Director of Retention to retain (and expand) existing groups
  • Explore opportunities to form new groups of individual members to maximize member value and improve retention
  • Build and lead team of volunteers to assist with efforts

Time commitment is 10-15 hours/month.

Purpose:

AMA Ally is a program to help new AMA Triangle members hit the ground running. New members will be able to opt-in to having an Ally and will be matched with a current member. The current member will share resources and information over the course of 30 days, with approximately four touch points.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Connect with assigned new member match to welcome them to our chapter
  • Get to know your match and share relevant resources
  • Encourage your match to get involved with the chapter

 

The Length of Appointment:
The AMA Ally and new member will be matched for 30 days. You’re welcome to be an Ally to multiple new members!

Time Commitment:

2 hours

 

Purpose: The Director of Operations supports the work of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and learns all aspects of the strategic and operational role to have the opportunity to become the COO in the future. This position supports the AMA Triangle chapter through a variety of HR and operations functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in planning monthly board meetings as needed. Tasks may include venue coordination, RSVP management, meeting scheduling, and attending the meeting to take minutes.
  • Provide support for activities related to volunteer onboarding and management. For example, creating email addresses, maintaining a roster of volunteers, and providing support to Board members.
  • Works with the team to ensure monthly reporting is sent in a timely manner to AMA National.
  • Responsible for helping the COO track volunteer experience through surveys, feedback and 1:1’s and shares opportunities for improvement with the board.
  • Works with the COO and President-Elect to ensure the election cycle is completed on time and follows the election guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Length of Appointment: The Dir. of Operations will serve for at least one board year with the opportunity to then move into the COO role

Time Commitment: 10 hours per month

Qualifications: Must be a member of the Triangle Chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Support: Training for this position will be provided.

Benefits: This role is a great introduction to serving on a nonprofit board through attendance at Executive Board meetings for a firsthand look at how the board functions. This role is also meant to serve as preparation for serving on the Executive Board of AMA Triangle as the COO. And as a volunteer, you’ll also be given a 10% discount to all AMA Triangle events.

Purpose:

The Community Coordinator will assist in maintaining relationships with local service organizations. They will also work with different committees within AMA Triangle to identify marketing professionals who will support the Marketing Assistance program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director of Non-Profit Partnerships to create and maintain relationships with local service organizations
  • Manage the non-profit partnerships email inbox
  • Collaborate with the communications team to identify and recruit marketing professionals to support the Marketing Assistance program
  • Administrative duties as needed

The Length of Appointment:

The Community Coordinator will serve through the end of the AMA Triangle calendar year (July 2020)

Time Commitment:

2 hours per week

Qualifications:

Must be a member of the Triangle chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Training for this position will be provided.

About Non-Profit Partnerships:

Community Relations is the heart of AMA Triangle. Our non-profit partnerships committee establishes relationships with local service organizations and acts as a liaison for programming opportunities, potential partnerships, and marketing services. Non-Profit partnerships operate as a team of account coordinators and work closely with the AMA Impact programming team throughout the year to develop outreach opportunities, and connect those opportunities to the AMA Triangle membership.

Purpose: The Director of the CONNECT & INSPIRE mentorship program oversees the strategy and operations for the program period. Leading a team of 3-6 passionate marketers, the director oversees the development of communications and programming plans to promote participation and engage mentors/protégés in both program periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead team of 3-6 volunteers focused on developing internal and external communications as well as programs and planning
  • Champion mentorship program at AMA Triangle and local events
  • Collaborate with the Director of Collegiate Relations to identify opportunities to engage undergraduate participants
  • Host biweekly meetings (in-person or by phone) with team and lead discussions on planning and execution of communications and event planning needs
  • Collaborates with AMA Triangle volunteer board to schedule communications and identify opportunities for integrated programming
  • Administrative duties as needed

The Length of Appointment: The Director of the CONNECT & INSPIRE Mentorship Program will serve from July 2020 – July 2021.

Time Commitment: 5-8 hours per week

Qualifications: Must be a member of the Triangle chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Support: Training for this position will be provided.

About CONNECT & INSPIRE:

Mentorship is an invaluable asset in career development and success. The CONNECT & INSPIRE program pairs passionate marketing leaders with up-and-coming industry talent to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ideas. Since it’s launch in the fall of 2017, the mentorship program has connected over 100 Triangle marketers. As a result of the goal setting process encouraged between mentors and protégés, several of our participants have landed new job opportunities, took pivotal career steps, expanded their networks, and enhanced their leadership skills.

Purpose: The CONNECT & INSPIRE Communications Coordinator supports the development of internal and external messaging for current and future program participants. This role will assist with curating and maintaining a communications plan, and facilitate distribution of key correspondence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages email communications from mentorship@triangleama.org and coordinates scheduled email campaigns with AMA Triangle communications team.
  • Develops monthly newsletter for mentors and protégés.
  • Assist with the development of social media and email promotional content for application process.
  • Collaborates with Director of Mentorship and VP of Communications to develop engagement and content strategies for CONNECT & INSPIRE LinkedIn group.
  • Liaison between C&I team and design team to coordinate creation of marketing collateral.
  • Assists with content editing for CONNECT & INSPIRE landing page(s) on AMATriangle.org
  • Develop a communications plan with assistance from Director of Mentorship and VP of Communications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Length of Appointment: The Communications Coordinator will serve from July 2020 – July 2021.

Time Commitment: 3 hours per week

Qualifications: Must be a member of the Triangle chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Support: Training for this position will be provided.

Purpose: The VP of Community Relations oversees the strategy and development of the CONNECT & INSPIRE Mentorship Program, Collegiate Relations team, and the Non-Profit Partnerships team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists program Directors for the Mentorship, Collegiate and Non-profit programs in leading team of volunteers
  • Develops strategic goals and KPIs for all Community Relations programs
  • Serves as a liaison between the board of executives and Community Relations programs
  • Hosts quarterly meetings with entire Community Relations team
  • Collaborates with AMA Triangle volunteer board to schedule communications and identify opportunities for integrated programming
  • Administrative duties as needed

The Length of Appointment: The VP of Community Relations will serve for one AMA Triangle calendar year (July 2020 – July 2021)

Time Commitment: 5 hours per week

Qualifications: Must be a member of the Triangle chapter of the American Marketing Association.
