“Balanced and successful.” That’s how Lauren Henderson, president of the collegiate AMA Chapter at the North Carolina State University Poole College of Management, describes the club’s spring 2013 “Meet the Pros” event, which created new connections, lively networking and future career opportunities. The mini-career fair and networking event – which the chapter has hosted each fall and spring semester for the past several years – was held February 21 in Raleigh, NC.
This time, they branched out to other academic programs at NC State, inviting not only their own marketing club members, but also students in NC State’s programs in communications, design, and fashion and textile design, said Maggie Martin, Vice President of Programming.
They also invited a mix of marketing professionals: those working in marketing, communications and public relations agencies, as well as those in marketing and sales, business education, non-profits, events planning, financial services, pharmaceuticals and publications, Martin said. Twenty companies sent representatives, and more than 60 students attended.
“The turn out this semester was fantastic, it was one of our best yet,” Henderson said. “We worked really hard as leaders to get the event out there to students and it worked. Professionals came up to us at the end and complimented us on how well the event went and the type of students they spoke to.”
Companies interested in participating during the 2013-14 academic year may contact the student officers via the chapter’s email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
